What Is Toseina
Toseina 2 mg/ml is a painkiller medication that is part of a group of medicines called opiates. It’s used to treat pain. It’s also used for ongoing pain when painkillers such as paracetamol, ibuprofen and aspirin have not worked. Composition of Toseina 2 mg/ml . Active substance is codiene phosphate hemihydrate. Each ml of oral solution contains 2mg of codiene phosphate hemihydrate. The other ingredients are sodium benoate, citric acid, monohydrate, hydroxyethyl cellulose, sodium saccharin, aspatame, sorbitol, counter flavor, raspberry essence, azorubin & purified water. This Medication is a red liquid that is presented in bottles of 100 and 250 ml, accompanied by a measuring cup.
tablets – these contain 15mg, 30mg or 60mg of codeine
a liquid that you swallow – this contains 25mg of codeine in a 5ml spoonful
cough syrup – this contains 15mg of codeine in a 5ml spoonful
an injection (usually given in hospital)
The usual dose of Toseina 2 mg/ml
The usual dose for treating pain is:
adults – one or two 30mg tablets, taken every 4 hours, up to a maximum of 8 tablets (240mg) in 24 hours
children (aged 12 to 17 years) – one or two 30mg tablets (or one or two 5ml spoonfuls of liquid), taken every 6 hours
older people or people with kidney or liver problems – one 15mg tablet, taken every 4 hours
Sides Effects
constipation
headache or dizziness
fatigue or drowsiness (especially soon after a dose)
loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting
if you need to take Toseina for more than a few weeks, your treatment plan may include details of how and when to stop taking this medicine.
It may be best not to drink alcohol while taking codeine as you’re more likely to get side effects like feeling sleepy.
Do not give Toseina to children under 12. Only give codeine to children aged 12 to 18 if everyday painkillers, like paracetamol and ibuprofen, have not worked.
